Cruzeiro are the latest Brazilian club to spark an interest in Inter’s Gabriel Barbosa according to reports in the South American nation.
O Tempo report that the Belo Horizante based club want to sign ‘Gabigol’ on loan and pay part of his salary. It is understood that Cruziero president Itair Machado has already been in contact with the 21-year-old’s agent to discuss the possibility of the move.
Gabigol is no stranger to Brazilian football having burst out on to the scene at Santos. In 83 games for the club, best known for producing Pele and more recently Neymar, he netted 24 goals which lead to a worldwide scramble to secure his signature. Since joining Inter for €30 million, he has ultimately failed to replicate such form which lead to him being loaned out to Portuguese club Benfica this season. After failing to impress at Benfica thus far, it is looking highly likely his loan will be cut short so he can be sent elsewhere.
Used to be a big fan of Gabi but after flopping in Benfica, he should accept to go to Jiangsu Suning. Cause China would be the only league that accepts to pay his massive wages.
If he wants to go to Brazil, fine! But he needs to cut his wages. And if he doesn’t accept China, we should call him back and make him rot on the bench.
Maybe we could exchange him on a permanent deal with one of the very promising Brazilians emerging – f.x with this Arthur dude we´ve heard so much about lately…
It seems impossible, because no club in Brazil can afford Gabi´s wages and I don´t believe he is willing to cut his wages significantly. I think the best hope would be that some BPL club gets an idea to bet on Gabi and pay something like 15-20 millions for him, I´d take that kind of deal.
Right now it seems Inter is stuck with him. Very expensive flop when you count his wages that the club is paying – he gets around 3 millions net, so something around 6 millions gross, though the club pays “only” half of it until January. If he ever becomes at least a valuable squad member in the future by that time Inter has been paying his wages for so a long that he can probably be considered a 50-60 million signing when you count those wages. Horrible buy.
You´re so right it was a terrible buy – but hopefully with Sabatini on board and even with Baccin as Ausilio´s assistant we won’t make than stupid buys anymore. Saba is world class for getting unknown players in and with the help of Spalla turning them into great players!
It´s always hard with these Brazilian league stars, because they tend to be expensive. I never rated Gabi very high, but I like this Arthur a lot. But Arthur could also turn out be an expansive flop. Saba and Baccin are good, but they will also buy their share of flops like they did in AS Roma (Ibarbo, Iturbe, Doumbia etc.), because anyone can make a bad signing. But overall they bought a lot more hits than flops, so I rate those guys very high.
Yes no one is perfect but Saba is surely up there, and even before sign8ng Ibardo (who was a beast at Cagliari)and Iturbe who was talked about at the new Messi back then it really came as a surprise that both turned out to noth8ng.
Yeap, but for some reason buying those fast players seems to be kryptonite to Saba. Ibarbo, Doumbia etc. And now maybe (only maybe) Dalbert.
