After Luciano Spalletti made it clear in his post match remarks that Inter need to strenghten the squad in order to be able to compete at the top of the Serie A, Inter need to reinforce the squad with a player in every department, according to today’s newspaper edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Given Zinho Vanheusden’s serious injury and rehab, the young Belgian central defender will mist likely miss the entire season which leaves Inter coach Luciano Spalletti with only Andrea Ranocchia to act as back-up for Milan Skriniar and/or Joao Miranda in case of an injury or suspension.

Gazzetta reports that this will soon be remedied via the signing of Alessandro Bastoni who the Nerazzurri agreed terms over with Atalanta over the summer before loaning him back to the Bergamo club for a two seasons. However the youngster is not finding any space under coach Gian Piero Gasperini which has prompted Atalanta to give Inter the green light to bring him to Appiano Gentile in January.

According to the report, the two clubs will meet before Christmas to iron out the final details before wrapping up the transfer and Bastoni can be at the disposal of Luciano Spalletti.
