As widely reported, Inter’s squad this season lacks depth to provide rest or alternatives to the consolidated starting 11. For this reason, it would be a pity to waste such a good league position without spending in January to reinforce the squad.

Milano based Gazzetta dello Sport reports on Inter’s possible January signings that: “Inter need a combative midfielder who can provide a turn of pace when the team is in trouble, therefore Ramires and Barella have been identified as targets. Then there is a lack of talent near the opponents box .Candreva and Perisic are physically strong and athletic and are almost unstoppable in open field, but struggle to beat players in tight spaces when teams defend deep. Karamoh is too inexperienced for now and needs time to improve. Pastore and Verdi are the top targets identified to provide some creativity, but the Nerazzurri scouts will also have other names on their notebooks.”

The newspaper then continued offering advice to the Nerazzurri coach writing that: “Spalletti needs to vocalise to Suning that there are serious gaps in the squad which need to be addressed if they want to return to European cup football. The directors in Milano also need to raise their voices, as Sabatini has already tried without too much success in his last visit to Nanjing: the problem is that Inter have to register at least 60 million in capital gains by June 30th to meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play criteria, to avoid UEFA fines or sanctions. Inter owner Zhang Jindong confirmed the self-financing policy with the aim of making profits in the second part of the season through new revenues  such as sponsors, potential sales and the possibility of anticipating a portion of the Champions League prize money on the balance sheet. The alternative way is to invest immediately in January there are no limitations, then entrust Sabatini and Ausilio with the task of saving the accounts before July with a series of well-targeted sales. This is perhaps the only solution able to keep the Nerazzurri dreaming big, as Sabatini, has a long history of creating big profits from player sales.”
