During a dinner party held by GR Sports, 22-year old Atalanta attacker Andrea Petagna was interviewed by Calciomercato.com commenting on the interest shown by Serie A giants Inter and Juventus.
On a sirect question regarding the interest of other clubs in him Petagna replied that: “Atalanta took me in when no other team believed in me, my situation at the time was that of a bench player in Ascoli who at the time were playing in Serie B. The Percassi family [Atalanta owners] focused and bet on me and I firmly believe that I can continue to grow here. The Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini and I get along really, really well. So, at the moment I am very, very happy at Atalanta.”
Petagna was asked about his chances to play for the Italian national team saying that: “I do believe I have a chance, but in order to get there I have to perform well with Atalanta.”
The former AC Milan player who spent 4 seasons with the Rossoneri featured only twice in the Serie A and once in the 2012/2013 Uefa Champions League has, since his arrival in Bergamo made 48 appearances scoring 7 goals.
