Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, discussed the upcoming transfer market window, dedicating a section to Inter’s targets. Among the many names rumoured to be of interest to Inter at this stage, the name of German midfielder Leon Goretzka, is one of the most intriguing ones.

The young German international’s expiring contract with Schalke 04 is the main reason,  meaning one of Europe’s best talents could be available for free this summer. As the newspaper wrote: “The German international player is wanted Bayern Munich and half of the Premier League clubs, but Walter Sabatini has long been part of this race for this 22-year-old complete midfielder, who possesses great physical attributes combined with good feet and movement off the ball, The competition for Goretzka is going to be really difficult to beat but Sabatini will try to remain in the race, whilst waiting for positive news from Nanjing in regards to Inter’s FFP status and financial freedom to spend.”
