Inter manager Luciano Spalletti has likened the clubs sporting directors to his attacking partnership in the team. The former Roma manager has said that Walter Sabatini and Piero Ausilio are as lethal as Ivan Perisic and Mauro Icardi.

The strange analogy came during his press conference ahead of Inter’s game against Sassuolo in Serie A this weekend. He was asked about possible transfer targets & if there were any opportunities that could present themselves in the January transfer market to strengthen the team in it’s pursuit of a top four finish that would guarantee UEFA Champions League football next season. He responded by saying “it’s clear that if we are talking about the transfer market if any opportunities present themselves Sabatini and Ausilio will score a goal like Perisic or Icardi would on the pitch. We must though understand what are the possibilities & what is the programme. As I have said before I will let the club speak about our plans and intentions. At the moment the players we have here will be here for the remainder of the season. They have already said themselves that they aspire to be in the highest positions of the league table. With this comes consistency. Amongst us we have said that we can contend for these positions but it won’t be easy. There are some good teams that started this season to be in those places. But we won’t hold back either.”
