Inter’s Italian international midfielder Roberto Gagliardini stopped by Inter TV after the heavy defeat against Sassuolo away at the Mapei Stadium to analyze the defeat.

The former Atalanta man was disappointed saying that: “It is normal to be a bit bitter today, we wanted to get back to winning ways after the defeat against Udinese so now we must work harder to make up for it in the derby. After they scored we continued to attack, we tried immediately in the second half to overturn the score. We had a penalty, we created many chances so the reaction from the team was there but we were not as good as we have been previously and a bit unlucky in comparison to other times.

“I don’t think we’ve run out of gas, we work really well during the week, there have been episodes where we have been unable to pay attention to in the past two matches and so things have gone badly. Sassuolo defend really well, they’re a tough team who played their game on the counter-attack, sometimes we managed to stop them and sometimes we didn’t and that is when they hurt us” Gagliardini explained.

The former Atalanta player then continued saying that: “The performance was there, so was the reaction, we were only missing the goaland a bit of meanness in front of goal. Today there were a lot of fans present, we need them and we will resolve our problems as soon as possible and get back to winning ways. They defended depp and waited for us to attack them, which we did via our wings but we were neither good enough nor lucky enough today to take advantage of the chances our wingers created. Maybe we conceded a bit too much in the first few minutes after the break but overall we gave an important performance were the only thing missing was the three points.

I played as a central defender towards the end, it was a point of the match where this was needed and I played deeper for a few minutes I didn’t really play that role today although I have in the Serie B before with Vicenza so i can play there too” Gagliardini concluded before wishing Inter fans everywhere a Merry Christmas.
