Mapou Yanga Mbiwa has found his playing time limited to just three appearances at Lyon and as a result could depart the Ligue 1 outfit in January.

The French central defender’s lack of play time has alerted Inter’s technical coordinator Walter Sabatini who is understood to already be in contact with the 28-year-old’s representatives over a transfer. Sabatini and Yanga Mbiwa are no stranger to one another after Sabatini was behind taking him to Roma back in 2014 from Newcastle United.

According to L’Equipe, Inter’s plan is to sign Yanga Mbiwa in January and keep him in their side for the remainder of the season and then in the summer, transfer him to sister club Jiangsu Suning in China.

Inter are not alone in keeping tabs on him however. Fiorentina are believed to have made contact while Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir are also interested. The Lyon leadership have placed a €5 million valuation on Yanga Mbiwa’s head, a price that will no doubt attract further interest.
