Inter are a team in need of a break. Luciano Spalletti’s options have been limited since the start of the season and now the tiredness is starting to show in their performances and results. Without a win in their last 5 games in all competitions, the need for a change is evident and it would seem that Inter are starting to address the situation behind the scenes ready for when the January transfer window opens.

Two names on the Nerazzurri hit list seem to be the Barcelona duo Aleix Vidal and Gerard Deulofeu. The duo aren’t getting a lot of game time in La Liga at the moment and the Catalan club seem keen on sending them out at least on loan for the time being.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter’s market men met with their counterparts from Barcelona last night in Milan in a bid to start negotiations on a potential deal for the two players. The thinking behind the deal is that Vidal could be an option as a replacement for Joao Cancelo if he continues to insist on a return to Valencia. Vidal is a full back able to play on both sides of the defence and could be seen as a good buy in any case regardless of the Cancelo situation especially with Danilo D’Ambrosio currently out injured until possibly February.

Deulofeu is currently the number one target for Inter’s Sporting Directors, Walter Sabatini and Piero Ausilio. The Spanish winger is everything that Inter are looking for. He is quick, tricky and a player who can make the difference in a game. He is also capable of playing as a second striker if needed. Inter are looking to strike a deal based on a two year loan with obligation to buy depending on certain conditions being met. This would mean that Inter keep their spending down to a minimum at the moment and thus not affect their current UEFA Financial Fair Play restrictions.
