Inter striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, who is currently on loan at Benfica, will leave the Portuguese giants when the transfer window opens in Janaury. César Boaventura, who was one of the people involved in bringing him to Benfica confirmed this in an interview with Rádio Renascença where he discussed the current situation of the player.

Boaventura began by stating that “things at Benfica did not go as planned, or as we had predicted. The player has quality but the final say down to the manager Rui Vitoria who is not up for discussion. We can not dismiss that. I don’t know whether he will come back to Brazil or stay in Europe but I’m quite sure of one thing, and that is that he will play. He has the quality, I am willing to bet on that. He also has the capability to adapt to different conditions. Now he has to play where he thinks he is best suited. Gabriel is a great professional, a beautiful person, he never gives up and will be successful wherever he goes.”
