Inter end a poor December with a 0-0 stalemate at the Meazza. There were plenty of chances created in this game but both goalkeepers were on top form. Cancelo put in yet another fantastic performance, Candreva had another stinker. Here’s how everyone else fared

Samir Handanovic – 7: Needs to do something about crosses he doesn’t go after, but the shots saved from Anderson and Milinkovic were world class. Determined.

Joao Cancelo – 7: Back-to-back Man of the match performances. The best performance from an Inter full back this season. Anyone else saw shades of Maicon?

Milan Skriniar – 6: The 120′ played on Wednesday were showing today. Made a couple of uncharacteristic errors today but still managed to move the ball around.

Andrea Ranocchia – 6.5: This is the Rannochia we thought we were getting when we signed him. Absolutely rock solid today. Even recovered his own mistakes. Strong.

Davide Santon – 6: Great return to the starting 11. Apart from 10 mins in the 2nd half against F.Anderson, he was solid. A little more team work with Perisic will help.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5: One of the worst first halves I’ve seen from Gagliardini, but recovered well in the 2nd half. Won a lot of balls. Can do much better with passing.

Matias Vecino – 6: Matias defines box to box midfielder. Was effective on both ends. Moved the ball well and always willing to attack and combine with anyone.

Antonio Candreva – 5: The old Antonio is back. The pre-derby version. Lazed around the pitch today hardly creating space or chances. Messed up easy crosses as well.

Borja Valero – 6: Played well for a man who was reported to have some fever. Snapping at their defenders non-stop and even stopped a quick counter attack.

Ivan Perisic – 5.5: Slightly better than what he has been post Chievo. Showed some fight and willingness to take on players. Could have scored. One step forward.

Mauro Icardi – 5: Tried to get involved today but was very poor in the box. Poor shot when he had the only chance. Chased back a lot more as well.

Joao Mario – 6: Positive performance today. Was like a breath of fresh air on the right wing. Got the most accurate crosses in tonight. Maybe this is his role?

Henrique Dalbert – N/A: Spalletti would be pleased to see what Dalbert brought today. Used his pace well, made overlapping runs and attacked with verve tonight.

Marcelo Brozovic – N/A: Not much time but made a couple of good tackles and interceptions. The corner he took was well taken but Rannochia couldn’t keep it down.

Luciano Spalletti – 6.5: Fantastic work by Spalletti on the minds on the players. They were determined to get a result and look solid. Needs to build on it till next week.

Rocchi – 4: Thankfully there is VAR now. Missed bookings on both sides. Played a perfect assist for Parolo. Cant believe he is still refereeing.

Inter – 6: We have stopped the rut. Now we need to work a little bit calmer and get the points in Florence. We didn’t look passive. Great effort!

Will we start 2018 better? Did anyone deserve more or less? Does Candreva need some rest?
