After a very disappointing first half which both teams spent battling in the middle of the pitch but where Fiorentina created more, Inter came out to the second half with much more conviction, pace and aggressivity and could have snatched all three points if not for a last minute euqalizer by Giovanni Simeone.
After a couple of weeks of poor form and poor results the Nerazzurri found themselves playing away at a ground and against a team that they have historically struggled at, where for example they lost last season 5-4. Tonight however, Inter were far more solid defensively with Andrea Ranocchia and Milan Skriniar both putting in two good shifts to clear Inter’s goal.
Offensively Icardi was waiting to pounce on any chance he got which he did when getting on the end of a terrific Joao Cancelo freekick. Then end there it looked like Inter could snatch all three points but when Ranocchia came off injured Spalletti had to make several changes defensively with Davide Santon playing in three different positions in defence throughout the match and so in the end Giovanni Simeone equalized in the 92nd minute.
