Inter striker Gabigol is imminently expected to cut his loan spell with Benfica cut short after a difficult time in Portugal. With this news, a number of clubs have sparked an interest in taking the 21-year-old including former club Santos.
Jose Carlos Peres, the President of Santos, confirmed a return is very much possible in an interview with GloboEsporte.
“We are in negotiations with his current club and the ball is now in Inter’s court. There is a very strong possibility that he will return and I am hoping that the player himself is pushing for this to get done as well. We are at the point where the deal is solely in Inter’s court. Inter is a club run in China so it is not very simple to get things done.”
The Brazilian forward has again struggled for play time this season and managed only a handful of appearance since he arrived to much fanfare in the summer.
