Despite being seemingly resigned to losing him, Lazio are to make a new attempt to try and sign Stefan de Vrij to a new contract.

Premium Sport report that Lazio will offer the 25-year-old Dutchman €2.5 million a season but also include a low release clause between €10-15 million which could convince him to stay past this summer when his current contract with the club is set to expire.

De Vrij has attracted interest from Inter among many other sides and is expected to give the Stadio Olimpico club an answer to their proposal this coming Monday. The former Feyenoord player has also received an offer from Inter if reports are to be believed but he is yet to give the Nerazzurri a response to their offer that would see him join Inter in the summer.

This season de Vrij has made 23 appearances for Simone Inzaghi’s side and has played a crucial part in their successes so far this term.
