As Inter continue to search for players in multiple positions who they may be able to acquire on the cheap this mercato, Lokomotiv Moscow’s Manuel Fernandes will not be one of them.

One of the Russian clubs’s directors in Anatoly Meshcheryakov has ruled out the 31-year-old could possibly depart amid apparent interest from Inter once again.

“Manuel has a contract with us until 2019, he is a footballer of Lokomotiv and we need him here.”

The 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder was previously just a step away from joining the Nerazzurri a number of years ago and has been with Lokomotiv since 2014. Inter first showed an interest in Fernandes during the 2009/10 season that they would go on to win the famous triplete.

Fernandes has played nearly every minute of their season, starting each of his sides 28 games in all competitions this season. The former Valencia and Besiktas player has scored nine goals and assisted teammates on six occasions thus far.
