In the last few days, Inter have been linked with several players who could potentially strengthen Luciano Spalletti’s squad during the second half of the season. One of these is Nicolás Gaitán, who has struggled to secure his place in Diego Simeone’s starting XI since joining Atlético Madrid from Benfica in 2016. José Iribarren, the Argentine’s agent, spoke to FcInterNews.it about his client’s current situation in Spain.
Is it true that your client could leave Atlético Madrid?
“He wants to play and so, yes, it is possible that he could leave Los Colchoneros. He is not being given an opportunity to impress, while there are a few options on the table.”
Italian reports suggest he is on Inter’s radar…
“I am not sure about specific clubs, though I do know he is liked by many teams. It’s important to be aware of the fact he has a certain value and that will have to be met.”
How expensive is he?
“You should ask the leaders of Atlético Madrid that question. We will see what the best solution is for them and we will work the situation out together.”
What do you think of Inter?
“Inter is a great club, for sure. Who would not like to defend the Nerazzurri colours and live in Milan? I repeat, I cannot give you any information about talks, because Atlético Madrid have not told us about any offers.”
When will there be updates?
“I will be in Europe next week to explore all the proposals that Atlético Madrid receive. The important thing is that everyone is satisfied in the end. Los Colchoneros, the player and indeed his new team.”
