It would appear that Portuguese midfielder, Joao Mario, will leave Inter in this January transfer window. The former Sporting Lisbon player has failed to hold down a regular starting place at Inter and it would seem that his time is up at the Milan club.
The players’ agent, Kia Joorabchian, has come out in support of his player and expressed his irritation at how he feels his client is being treated by Inter. According to FCInterNews.it, Kia Joorabchian believes that Inter have devalued his client during his time at the club. Without regular football and now being used as the main bargaining chip for the club to use as it tries to auto finance their market with the sale of a big name. This has not stopped clubs showing interest in Joao Mario however with Sevilla and Atletico Madrid both interested and reported to be involved in some slow moving negotiations with Inter directors about a possible player exchange deal.
At the moment the situation seems complicated. The player wants regular football and understands he porbably won’t get it at Inter. However, the player has already turned down possible loan moves with a right to buy at the end of the season which would have guaranteed him the first team football that he craves. Two such deals have arrived at the Inter head office from Premier League clubs Everton and Watford with one also coming in from Chinese side Jiangsu Suning. With this in mind you have the situation stalled with the clubs stance and the dissatisfaction of the players’ entourage on one hand and then the player himself rejecting destinations that he deems possibly a level beneath him. As things stand the most likely solution will be a swap deal with the interested parties in Spain.
Don’t ever touch players from Joorabchian. Inter de-valued the players? Give me a break – more like Joorabchian inflated their values at best. Just look at Gabigol, another Joorabchian-bound player.
Versatility is both mario strength and problem. He’s not particularly excel at certain position thus it’s hard to find a perfect position for him. He can do many things, but average at best.
I dont know what to say about J.Mario.
I have seen him dominate midfield on his own in some games and in his last game he was nothing but a chicken.
My guess is that he is versatile, jack of all trades and he needs certain types of team mates to truly shine and compliment his lack of skills aka shooting and his positioning (Only few players in the world knows how to truly play in different positions effectively)
I agree I think J.Mario is a quality player but I think he is more suited to a 3 man midfield, box to box, he brings pace to our midfield which we something we seriously lack, only thing is his shooting is lacking confidence and which is something we would need if you switch to 4-3-3, We play 4-2-3-1 which isn’t something Spalletti will change just for him. I do feel Spalletti has become way to predictable with his tactics, and his subs come on too late as well, but J.Mario really needs to up his game and be more focused on Inter if he’s going to stay beyond Jan. It’s understandable that with the lack of playtime he will want to move in Jan. I think he’s got huge potential but he needs regular game time. If we do sell we must include a sell on fee.
Fully agree. I am afraid he will shine else where because we all know he is not a raw gamble. If possible, I will keep him till world cup where his value will increase further but maybe he have lost his head in here like kdog.
If it was up to me I’d keep him and look to change formation now to 4-3-3 as we’ve consistenly tried 4-2-3-1 with Rafinha coming in (I hope) and if fit, we would have a better midfield to keep ball retention and with J.Mario/Rafinha/Valero, with our pace on the wings (as both Perisic and Candreva are great at tracking back and getting forward) this would create more chances for Icardi. Biggest thing I think we lack in our central midfield apart from someone who can play a killer pass as a team is pace, there is no change of pace.
i would maybe consider ramires ahead of valero in the mid against bigger teams at least, so dynamic.
I like 4-3-3 better but Napoli version of it. I dont think Spalleti favors it tho even if he lacks competent AmF. It certainly is worth a try.
you will know what to think about him when he starts playing somewhere else, play as he knows and he can. we know that from inter history. what now is going on is rather usual histery.
He is really talented player and not raw one like Gabi. He performs in NT well as dynamic midfielder. I think premier league will suit him well where the focus on positioning is minimal.
