Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has praised Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio and technical coordinator Walter Sabatini for the work they have carried out thus far in the mercato.

“I think Piero Ausilio and Walter Sabatini have worked well so far [in the mercato],” Bergomi told Sky Sports 24. Inter’s mercato duo have been working tirelessly on a number of deals namely ones involving Barcelona’s Rafinha that looks near to completion and Ramires from Chinese sister club Jiangsu Suning.

Bergomi proceeded to discuss Inter’s latest – and so far only – arrival this mercato in Lisandro Lopez, who joined the club on loan from Benfica earlier this week giving Luciano Spalletti some much needed depth in the centre of defence.

“He was an important player some time ago, while lately Benfica was a backup player, but Inter needed a centre back and I think the move was the right one [for all parties].”
