Some notable behind the scenes details have emerged from the negotiations that brought Rafinha to Inter from Barcelona. As reported in Spain by “Elgoldigital”, Barcelona have insisted on obtaining a verbal agreement or a gentlemen’s agreement but not a real clause, concerning a possible sale of Mauro Icardi in the future. The Argentine striker has long been linked to a move to Real Madrid, but the Blaugrana do not like the idea of seeing one of their former youth players in the white shirt of Real Madrid, and hence the proposal: if Inter decide to sell Icardi, Barcelona should be informed in time and allowed the opportunity to match the offer of the possible buyer, and thus bring back the Argentine to Catalunya. However, this “pact between gentlemen”, according to elgoldigital, would become obsolete if Inter complete the permanent signing of Rafinha at the end of the season, this will free the club from any verbal agreement.
