Inter have failed to convince Atletico Madrid in to dealing winger Nico Gaitan according to a report from Spanish news outlet Marca.

The Nerazzurri are one of a number sides to have failed to get Atleti part ways with the Argentine who has not played since the end of November.

Mexican club Monterrey, Premier League club Swansea City and Argentine club Boca Juniors all had offers knocked back as they did not meet the Spanish capital club’s demands of the player which are somewhere between €17-20 million.

Inter, alongside Premier League duo Watford and Southampton both made offers consisting of a loan with an option to redeem him.

Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg are the latest club to have taken an interest in the 29-year-old and despite Atleti not being keen on loaning him out, the Russians are open to paying a big loan fee and inserting an obligation to purchase him at the end of the season.
