Inter captain Mauro Icardi has picked up a muscle injury in training today and risks missing this weekend’s clash with Crotone according to a report from Premium Sport.

The 24-year-old picked up the injury during a shooting drill and was forced to leave training early as a result. In the coming days he will be evaluated by the Inter medical team who will confirm the severity of the injury.

There has been no official confirmation from the club yet but confirmation could arrive in the next training report.

With Icardi seemingly set to miss Saturday’s night’s clash at the San Siro, his absence could have an effect on Inter’s transfer dealings in what remains in the mercato, particularly on the outgoing front. Eder has been linked with a move away for much of the mercato while interest is thought to be high in Inter youngster Andrea Pinamonti. The Nerazzurri management are unlikely to want to take any chances and risk losing both players as well as Icardi leaving Luciano Spalletti with no natural striker to choose from.
