La Gazzetta dello Sport is in no doubt as to the future of promising Argentine striker, Lautaro Martinez. They are reporting that Inter have beaten off the challenge of both Madrid clubs and have managed to get a deal over the line for the striker who will join in the summer from Racing Club Avellaneda in Argentina.

The Milan based sports daily paper reports that a visit to Argentina from Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio in person was key in finalising the deal. He will attend the game between Racing and Huracan before meeting with the player and his entourage to put pen to paper on the deal for the 20 year old. Gazzetta goes on to say: “the relationship between Inter and Argentine players will continue with the signing of Lautaro Martinez who will join the Nerazzurri in the summer. In addition to the work of Piero Ausilio it must be underlined that the work of Vice President Javier Zanetti was also key in landing Martinez. Add to this the presence of another former Inter player in Diego Milito on the board at Racing which also helped to make the negotiations easier. It is thought that both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid were also interested in the player. Inter will sign the forward for a fee of €15 million plus bonuses. To further strengthen these reports are rumours coming out Spain admitting that the player who has been tracked by the Madrid clubs since 2015, has all but agreed a transfer to Inter.”
