The optimism continues for Mauro Icardi’s return to the starting 11 after his hamstring issues in the last weeks. However, there was optimism on his return before the Bologna and Genoa game, therefore Inter remain cautious. La Gazzetta dello Sport explains: “Despite the day of rest granted by Spalletti, Icardi was at the training centre yesterday and had a session between the pitch and the gym, in the coming days he should return to working with the rest of the group and eventually make his comeback against Benevento unless his injury persists”. Ivan Perisic on the other hand seems also likely to return alongside the Argentine. The Croatian winger yesterday was also at the training centre to receive therapies and did some light work on the field. Perisic will be hungry to return as he hasn’t scored or assisted since his hat-trick against Chievo at the beginning of December. The Croatian should be reunited with his teammates in the coming days.
