It is with great sadness and shock that today we must report the passing of Fiorentina captain and current Italian international, Davide Astori. The Fiorentina defender who was a part of the AC Milan youth team between 2001 and 2006 also played for Cagliari & Roma in his short career.
It is thought that he passed away during the night aged just 31. Many fellow professionals and clubs from around the world have taken to social media to join in the tributes including Premier League club Chelsea who are managed by Astori’s former Italy manager, Antonio Conte, as well as, former team mate Francesco Totti and Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
Following this tragic news, all Serie A and Serie B matches scheduled for today have been officially postponed as a mark of respect and mourning. In these tragic circumstances the game of football is not remotely important and we fully support the decision. We at SempreInter.com would like to offer our deepest condolences as well as send our thoughts and prayers to his loved ones
