Should Luciano Spalletti lead Inter to Champions League qualification, he will be rewarded with a new contract by the club’s hierarchy according to a report from Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The 59-year-old tactician signed a contract until the summer of 2019 when he joined the Nerazzurri in the summer and Champions League qualification would see him given a year’s extension.

However, should the former Roma manager fail to take Inter back to the Champions League his contract situation could become complicated. His position will not be at risk if he is to fail, due to the fact that Suning and the rest of Inter management agree that the Spalletti project must last at least two seasons.

Tuttosport also suggest that the way Piero Ausilio is going about chasing transfer targets, particularly ones that will reinforce the defence, implies that Inter plan to continue with Spalletti past this season regardless of the outcome of it.
