Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset reports that Inter will begin talks to extend Mauro Icardi’s contract after Easter.

According to the report negotiations will start with his agent and wife Wanda Nara for the renewal of the contract of the Nerazzurri captain, who is expected to become the best paid player in the entire Serie A which will be made possible thanks to bonuses as well as image rights which will put him ahead of the €7.5 million net per season earned by Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain at Juventus.

The true goal of the Nerazzurri, is however, to raise Icardi’s minimum release fee clause, given that the current clause which is set at €110 million does not seem to protect the club from offers for their star striker. According to the report Inter are proposing to have the redemption clause be raised to at least €180 million as well as be active only to non-Serie A clubs during a specifically stipulated period of time.
