Lautaro Martinez Sets Sights On World Cup

Fresh from making his senior international debut in Argentina’s 6-1 defeat from Spain, pending Inter signing Lautaro Martinez has set his sights now on the World Cup.

“There are two months to go until the World Cup, we must continue to work hard. We were not able to block out the Spaniards, who exploited our weaknesses,” the young striker told TyC Sports.

Martinez replaced Gonzalo Higuain on the hour mark at which point Jorge Sampaoli’s side were already 4-1 down. Having broken out this season, Martinez is being tipped for a place among Sampaoli’s squad for the World Cup. This season at club level, Martinez has scored 13 goals in 15 appearances for Argentine outfit Racing Club.

The 20-year-old striker is to join Inter in the summer in a €27 million deal and is highly regarded as one of the best Argentine talents in quite some time by the media, current players and former players alike.
