During an interview with Spanish sports newspaper Marca, Juan Román Riquelme has revealed his great admiration for young Argentine striker Lautaro Martínez, who is set to join Inter during this summer’s transfer window. Here is what he had to say:

“In Argentina we have great hopes for him. Lautaro is a player who makes a difference in the league. We hope he can grow alongside Gonzalo Higuaín, Lionel Messi and Sergio Agüero.”

Of course, Lautaro’s name is a familiar one in Spain given the fact he was linked extensively with Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and Valencia before opting to join the Nerazzurri instead.

It remains to be seen which tactical set-up Luciano Spalletti will deploy next season, with Mauro Icardi on the verge of agreeing a new contract and unlikely to be leaving Milan any time soon.

Could the Tuscan tactician be preparing to switch to a 4-4-2, or will Lautaro find himself deployed as an inverted winger on the left-hand side? All will be revealed.
