Joao Mario found the net for the first time for West Ham since joining from Inter on loan in the January transfer window in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Southampton.

The Portuguese midfielder shared his delight at getting off the mark with West Ham TV.

“I am really happy with my first goal here. It was at home in an important win, a massive game, for us. It was a really nice victory so I am just really happy. I was trying a couple of times to score my first goal for West Ham. I am just really happy to score and also to help the team was the most important thing, because we got the three points.

Since arriving, the 25-year-old has made six appearances for the Hammers and has had many fans calling for his stay in London to be turned in to a permanent one after many good performances.
