Former Inter and Milan striker Hernan Crespo has spoken on two key aspects of Wednesday night’s Milan derby, the managers and the two leading strikers.

“Gennaro Gattuso and Luciano Spalletti? I am happy for Gattuso. This demonstrates that former great players only need one opportunity. Speaking of Spalletti there is little to say, his career speaks for itself,” he told Premium Sport.

“Patrick Cutrone and Mauro Icardi? Cutrone was not the first choice, but then he showed that he understood the needs of the team at the time. Icardi scores for fun and if he does not score, the team can not win. If the team does not win, he is not up to par. There are no other strikers like Mauro around.”

The Argentine striker also recalled the first goal that comes to mind when he thinks of the Derby della Madonnina.

“Dejan Stankovic [vs Milan in 2009]. He always hit it hard so it was difficult [for the goalkeeper] to get to the far post.”
