Inter are currently working hard on tieing up their captain Mauro Icardi according to a report by Italian media outlet SportMediaset.

According to the report the Nerazzurri’s intention is to readjust the Argentinian striker’s contract, not by necessarily by increasing the contract’s duration but more in terms of the redemption clause. The Inter captain has been one of Inter’s best and most consistent performers this season with many of Europe’s top clubs reportedly being on the hunt for the player, with Real Madrid repeatedly being linked with making a move for the former Sampdoria striker.

SportMediaset report further that Inter would like to raise the redempion clause from today’s €110 million to at least €160 million. The parties will meet again soon to try and reach an agreement with SportMediaset reporting that negotiations between Inter and Icardi’s wife and manager Wanda Nara seem to have started really well.

Recent weeks speculation has been rife these past few weeks that Icardi’s willingess to sign a new contract depends on the Nerazzurri finishing in the top 4 this season in the Serie A and thus securing a place in next season’s Champions League.
