Inter manager Luciano Spalletti spoke to InterTV following the Nerazzurri’s 0-0 draw with city rivals Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

“It was the same beautiful Inter in today’s game that we have seen in the recent games. At the beginning we won a few matches without deserving to due to our quality of play. While now I like it as this is a team that confronts everyone in an important way from all points of view.”

The 58-year-old then discussed the recent tactical changes that have allowed Inter to have a lot more variation in their attacking play.

“The players were a bit hesitant initially to do this. They did it but with little conviction. The new outlet is the solution. It is important for strong teams to have alternatives.”

Spalletti proceeded to praise Joao Cancelo, who after a slow start is really showing what he can do alongside the rest of the defence.

“He is one of those who took a while to get into the team, but now we are seeing all his quality. He is a really strong player and the defence is the basis for building a team. We have four strong defenders but we are not dependent on these players entirely as we have alternatives to them.”
