Inter flirted with 3rd place in the league twice in the 2nd half but were not able to break the deadlock in a Milan Derby that was an entertaining affair in spite of what the scoreline would suggest. There was a disallowed offside goal for both sides, including one overhead kick.
Samir Handanovic – 7.5: THAT save alone earns him Player Of The Match. World class when called upon and has managed to change his game and distribution under Spalletti. Brilliant.
Joao Cancelo – 6.5: The earlier undeserved yellow card disabled his tackling so he didn’t look as effective defensively. Was great in stretching Milan. Unlucky.
Milan Skriniar – 6: Skriniar didn’t have his worst game but certainly not his best. Was put under pressure well by Milan’s attack but managed to come unscathed.
Joao Miranda – 6.5: Was absolutely not taking any of Milan’s antics today. Cutrone/Kessie were almost like rag dolls today. Determination, leadership, world class.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6.5: The first half was the best I’ve seen from D’Ambrosio as a left full back tonight. Suso fooled him a few times in the 2nd half to bring trouble.
Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5: Positioning was good. Movement was good. The good moment continued in all departments but from the passing. Just that kind of a night.
Marcelo Brozovic – 6: Continued his great run of form. Was the focal point of our moves. When he tired towards the end he made some poor decisions, lost his way.
Antonio Candreva – 6: Stable performance but was burnt out. He was up and down the flank and gave it his 100%. Should have had an assist. Good defensive cover.
Rafinha – 5.5: Looked a little slower than usual today. Perhaps still not in the condition to start 2 games in 5 days. But still the class and quality was clear to see.
Ivan Perisic – 5.5: Was put in good positions all night by the midfield, but his final ball was poor all night. Had a couple of shots but too tame and too central.
Mauro Icardi – 5: Remember when his team didn’t create any chances for him? Today they put 2 on the plate and he missed them. He has it in him to come back.
Borja Valero – 5.5: Played at a much higher tempo today. Unfortunately the team was slower than him today as they were very tired. Quick passing was delightful.
Eder -N/A: Not much to write about. Ran about a little bit but till the 93rd minute he wasn’t involved in any decent attacking move at all. Yann Karamoh was needed.
Luciano Spalletti – 6.5: Luciano cant be blamed for the missed chances. Inter should have won easily. Only complaint is not bringing on Karamoh and Dalbert for pace.
Di Bello – 4: Correct offside call on the goal. Poor otherwise. Cancelo’s yellow didn’t make sense. Both sides didn’t look happy at all all evening.
Inter – 6: Had Icardi even converted 1 chance the Nerazzurri would be in the 3rd place, but not everything is lost. Inter need to play big games more confidently now.
Do you think Inter should continue to field the same lineup against Torino on Sunday? Why isnt Karamoh playing? Where is Dalbert? Will Icardi return to scoring ways come Sunday afternoon?
