Inter are on the lookout for a Mohamed Salah-style winger to sign for the following season, according to Tuttosport.
With Joao Cancelo enjoying an exceptional period of form at right-back the Nerazzurri are searching for a wide player who would be suited to playing in front of the Portuguese international, or rather a left-footer that could cut inside off the wing and take shots on goal (as well as provide assists).
Tuttosport report that sporting director Piero Ausilio is thus monitoring the progress of Tottenham forward Erik Lamela and Shakhtar Donetsk wide man Marlos; two players he believes would fit that profile.
“Lamela is not fixture in the starting XI at Tottenham,” they report, “which after five seasons in the Premier League could convince him to leave London and return to Serie A.
“However it is Marlos who has attracted Ausilio’s attention more than anyone else, having followed the player for years. He has scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions so far this season, he’s left-footed and he loves cutting inside: he is the perfect match for Inter, not least because his contract expires in 2019 and therefore would be unlikely to cost more than €20 million.”
Tuttosport claim meanwhile that Inter have cooled their interest in Marlos’s Shakhtar team-mate Bernard, due to difficulties regarding commission fees and the awkward prospect of having to negotiate with Kia Joorabchian.
