Speaking to Argentine radio station AM770, the Vice President of Racing Club Avellanda, Miguel Jiminez had strong words for the Argentinian Football Association regarding the selection of 20 year old striker Lautaro Martinez for the upcoming World Cup squad.

Jimenez stated that “To make excuses and leave him out of the squad would not be a good move. The player is a bull. He has no injuries and a great desire to play in Russia. Without disrespecting the others, Lautaro is the best. He can match it with strikers who are already playing in Europe, and can be a match winner in the World Cup.”

Martinez has been in incredible form for Racing this season, scoring 13 goals and delivering four assists in only 17 appearances. His talent has not gone unnoticed by Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli who gave the player his first senior call up against Spain in March.

After the World Cup, it has been confirmed that the player will join Inter.
