Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport reports that during the negotiations with Dutch international central defender Stefan De Vrij’s agents at Sport Entertainment Group for the Lazio player, Inter also intensified the discussions regarding another Dutch client the group represents, namely Roma’s Kevin Strootman.

According to the report Suning are prepared to sign the player as a gift to Luciano Spalletti should he lead the team to a top 4 finish in the Serie A which would mean Champions League football for the first time since the 2011/2012 season.

Tuttosport writes: “The Dutchman would bring the international experience and weight to the midfield, which are all good motives for the Chinese to pay Roma the €45 million redemption clause fee which is stipulated in his current contract.”

Strootman signed for Roma ahead of the 2013/2014 season from PSV Eindhoven for a reported €19 million including add-ons and has since then featured 187 times for the Giallorossi across all competitions scoring 28 goals in the process.
