Speaking to Radio Crc ahead of last night’s defeat to Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero discussed the contrasting futures of manager Marco Giampaolo and Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira.

While the Italian coach looks set to stay with the Blucerchiati, the president conceded he is not confident of keeping the player.

“Giampaolo stays with me next year, but Torreira wants to leave so we will see what happens. Right now there are four teams that want the player, so at the end of the season we will decide.”

Although not mentioned by name, it is a certainty that Inter are one of the sides interested in the young midfielder. They are also likely joined by Napoli, whose President Aurelio De Laurentiis has a special relationship with Ferrero.
The Uruguayan has been a stalwart for Giampaolo’s side this season, making 32 appearances and scoring four goals. He also made his debut for his national team in March, and looks likely to head to the World Cup.
