Gazzetta dello Sport analysed Luciano Spalletti’s demeanour during his post-game duties following Inter’s 4-0 victory over Cagliari on Tuesday night.

Despite the convincing performance and result Inter’s head coach was showing no signs of letting up after the match, fully aware as he is that for the Nerazzurri the hardest part is still yet to come.

“Inter rediscovered their goal-scoring touch and got back to winning ways,” Luca Taidelli wrote, “but [after the game] Luciano Spalletti remained as focused as ever.

“The Nerazzurri’s head coach wants to keep everyone on their guard at all times – his motto is ‘senza tregua’ [without respite], so when results aren’t arriving he underlines all the positive things his players are doing, whereas when they beat Cagliari 4-0 he finds fault in their performance.

“He probably hasn’t noticed that with five games left to play Inter have already surpassed their final points total from last season (63 now vs 62 then), but all that matters is that they can stay ahead of the Roman clubs – who play this evening – until 20 May.”

Inter moved up to third in the Serie A table with last night’s win and must now wait to find out if Roma and Lazio can respond on Wednesday night.
