Mauro Icardi gave an interview to Italian media outlet Sky Sport Italia after having led his Inter to a 2-1 win away at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi against Chievo in the 34th day of the 2017/2018 Serie A season.

The Inter captain argued that: “all matches are difficult, it is not easy to play in Italy against teams that defend as well as Chievo. It is a shame that we risked it in the end, gifting Chievo the last hope but it was good that it ended like this. It is normal that the coach was angry, we cannot allow ourselves to risk in a match like this, where we had chances to finish the match off without allowing it to open up, maybe resting a bit during the match.”

In conclusion Icardi was asked about the upcoming match against Juventus: “We all know the responsibility that we have, we are playing against a great team but we have demonstrated to be able to play on par with anyone, this is why we want to win. Regarding myself, I am content if I score and the team wins. If I score and it is not to any good then I don’t like scoring that much. What matters the most is to qualify for the Champions League.”
