Inter Heading For Record-Breaking Gate Receipts Against Juventus

Saturday’s Derby d’Italia at San Siro is on course to produce the highest gate receipts in Serie A history, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter and Juventus both have a huge amount riding on this weekend’s fixture and it appears everybody wants a ticket to see the game, to the extent that fans are set to raise over €5 million and thus break the current Italian record for gate receipts from a single match.

That record is already held by an Inter home game, after October’s Derby della Madonnina brought in €4,864,749, but the Italian news outlet believe the Nerazzurri’s fans are about to go one better still.

Gazzetta have also discussed the special plans that home supporters have in mind for Saturday’s big match.

“Inter’s fans are in the process of organising themselves to transform the Meazza into a black-and-blue basin,” they write.

“On top of the highly anticipated choreography from the Curva Nord there is also an initiative that has been launched by the ‘Inter Club Tempari’, ‘Old Fans’ from the first green tier and the ‘Banda Bagaj’ from the second blue tier, inviting every single supporter to turn up at the stadium on Saturday in an Inter shirt.

“Trumpet player Bepi Ricciardi will also be in attendance to whip the atmosphere up in the orange tribune.”
