Inter captain Mauro Icardi was interviewed in today’s Match Programme distributed ahead of the Derby d’Italia Serie A clash between Inter and Juventus at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

The Nerazzurri striker began by stating that: “I am happy when I score goals and as I always say, I am even happier if the team wins thanks to my goals. We are doing well, we are arriving from a positive result at Verona and we know that we have our destiny on our own hands and we only have one objective on our heads: to qualify for the Champions League.”

Icardi was then asked about the match against Juventus stating: “It is true, I have a good tradition of scoring against Juventus, I hope to continue these good habits. It is a special match, we are playing a great team and we know that it wont be easy. It is an honor for me to be the captain and to wear the shirt of this glorious club. The matches against Juventus are always special and fascinating. We will do everything to gift our fans happiness. I know that they have filled the stadium and that they follow us on TV all over the world.”

In conclusion Icardi commented on what it would mean to him to play in the Champions League next season: “It would be a dream come true. I have always wanted to wear the captains armband and play in the Champions League for Inter.”
