The futures of Inter captain Mauro Icardi and manager Luciano Spalletti will depend on whether or not Inter are to be successful in qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Corriere della Sera report that without the added prize money that Champions League football would bring, Inter’s project would suffer a bit of a bump and Icardi could be sacrificed in order to help make ends meet.
There will be no shortage of offers regardless of Inter’s Champions League fate for the Argentine forward but it will certainly be a far harder pill to swallow for Inter if they are to miss out and then have to give up the 25-year-old striker who has been the sides star man in recent years.
As for Spalletti, Inter may decide to offload him in the event of him failing to guide Inter in to the Champions League. The former Roma may even decide to step aside himself if he is unable to achieve the goals set out. If Spalletti is to go in either which way, the Nerazzurri could reignite their dream of having Antonio Conte on the bench.
