Inter are set to meet with Milan and the city council to discuss their plans to modernise San Siro, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri unveiled a new corporate hospitality project on Tuesday after deciding they would not renew their deal with Infront Sports & Media, who have acted as the club’s official marketing partner since 2014.

From next season onwards Inter will have full control of their sponsorship deals and commercial agreements, but they will also oversee all matchday corporate hospitality at San Siro by themselves, which the club believe their new ‘IN’ scheme will take to the next level.

In order to maximise the project’s potential over the coming years, however, there are obstacles they will need to overcome.

“The aim is to achieve a 10-15% increase in revenue from hospitality,” the Rome-based publication wrote on Wednesday. “But there is a problem to solve.

“At the moment there are only 3,000 seats inside San Siro reserved for corporate hospitality, which equates to a mere 3.5% of the stadium’s overall capacity. Most modern European stadiums these days have a minimum of 10% dedicated to this sector, with some reaching as much as 15%.

“This is one of the reasons that Inter are pushing for San Siro to be renovated, but for that to happen they will need to reach an agreement with Milan, who have yet to decide what their plans are for the stadium.

“The clubs however will soon meet with the city council in Milan to make a decision on the matter.”
