Mauro and Wanda Icardi have set off for their summer holidays after failing to make progress with Inter in their search for a contract extension.

Icardi’s wife and agent had hoped to secure a lucrative renewal before the family left for their vacation but has ultimately been unable to do so, with recent reports suggesting that Inter have far less haste to reach an agreement than she does.

All negotiations will now have to be put on hold until after they have returned, therefore, with a post on Wanda’s Instagram profile on Thursday confirming that they have left Milan for a few weeks of relaxation.

Icardi is contracted to Inter until 2021 after signing an extension in the summer of 2016, but his €110 release clause means that the forward’s future remains uncertain.

Any overseas clubs that wish to sign the Argentine will be able to do so without having to negotiate with Inter by activating the clause between 1 and 15 July.
