Former Inter striker Goran Pandev believes the Nerazzurri’s supporters deserve to watch their team play in the Champions League and has called upon the club to reinforce the squad during the summer.

Pandev, now at Genoa, scored 8 goals in 68 appearances for Inter after signing from Lazio in 2010 and was part of the squad that secured an historic treble under Jose Mourinho, before winning the Club World Cup and another Coppa Italia the following season.

Speaking to calciomercato.com on Thursday the Macedonian international praised Luciano Spalletti’s side for their performance against Lazio on the final day of the season, before giving a brief comment on summer signing Stefan De Vrij.

“Inter are a great team,” he said. “They proved it by going to the Olimpico and beating a Lazio side who have had a sensational season.

“I hope the club can have a big summer transfer window and that Inter can have a great Champions League campaign: their fans deserve it.

“De Vrij? I don’t know how things panned out [before the match against Inter], he made his decision. I suspect he spoke with [Simone] Inzaghi and then decided to play after that. I hope he does well at Inter.”
