Sassuolo director general Giovanni Carnevali says that the club have not received any offers for forward Matteo Politano, despite interest from several of Serie A’s top clubs.
Politano scored 10 goals for the Neroverdi during the 2017-18 season before receiving his first senior international call-up for Italy last month, and is thought to be one of Inter’s key targets in attack this summer as they look to sign a new right-sided winger.
However Carnevali told Sky Sport on Tuesday that Sassuolo have yet to receive enquiries for the 24 year-old, before adding that the club are willing to listen to any offers that do arrive.
“Our policy is always the same,” he said. “We’re a club with a solid ownership and president Squinzi does not want to sell off his best players, but we’ll have some decisions to make.
“I hear about Italian and overseas clubs who are interested in our players and this means the club is working well, but we want to build a team that can get results. The sporting aspect is important to us but we also need to keep an eye on the balance sheet.
“[In order to make a sale] we need three parties to be in agreement: us as the selling club, the player who has the desire to leave and the club that wants to buy.
“We’re open to listening to everyone, but so far we haven’t been contacted by anyone for Politano or [Domenico] Berardi. The offers that you’ve read about in the newspapers haven’t been made.”
