Former Inter forward Diego Forlan has revealed he dreamed of making a mark at the Nerazzurri and regrets being unable to do so in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I joined during a difficult moment for the club. There were many changes being made and the team that won the triplete was at the end of its cycle. Too many injuries were ultimately what stopped me. It remains a great regret of mine as I dreamed of leaving a mark at Inter.”

The Uruguayan, who managed just two goals in 20 appearances before moving on to Brazilian club Internacional the following season, does however not hold any bad feelings against the club and fondly recalls his relationship with fans that is still good to this day.

“The fans love me and they still continue to show me much love today and I will always be thanful to Massimo Moratti as he was the one who wanted me.”
