Inter have met with the agent of former Sampdoria midfielder Bruno Fernandes’ agent, following the player’s recent exit from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon according to a report from transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Portuguese international is one of a group of players who have left the club following an attack by fans at their training ground in recent weeks.

Di Marzio’s report however stresses that for now anyway, Fernandes is seen as a back-up option for the Nerazzurri while they chase other targets on the market.

The 23-year-old moved to the Portuguese capital at the start of last season and scored 16 goals and delivered 20 assists in 56 appearances across all competitions for the club. Ferndandes’ form for Sporting earned him a call up to Fernando Santos’ Portugal squad for the upcoming World Cup in Russia. The reigning European champions will begin their World Cup campaign on Friday against fierce rivals, Spain.
