Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello has confirmed that in the coming weeks the club will sit down with club captain Mauro Icardi and manager Luciano Spalletti to discuss new contract’s.
“Mauro Icardi is the captain of Inter, there is a contract in place and there is the willingness on the part of both parties to discuss the renewal. We will meet in the coming weeks.
“Again there is a contract in place, now we are very focused on the market and in the coming weeks we will also address the theme of the renewal of the contract of the coach,” Antonello revealed in an interview with Gr Parliamento.
Antonello proceeded to discuss the mercato and the Nerazzurri’s prospects for the coming season.
“Our mercato has been important to date and in the next few weeks we will make further assessments, there are contacts in place but nothing concrete.
“The first goal of our project was to return to the Champions League, it was achieved, now we want to reduce the gap from the other three teams that have finished in front of us, the goal is to approach the other two teams that have led the season, then there is the return to the Champions League, where Inter will have to demonstrate competing in such an important competition after years of absence, we have made sure, with the summer mercato to improve, but the field will show how much this work has borne fruit. Scudetto? The primary objective is to reduce the gap, if we look at the table of last season the points distance between us and Juve was very significant, so we want to reduce the gap and we will do everything to improve the results of last year.”
Antonello concluded the interview by discussing financial fair play.
“Like all projects, there is planning and it takes time. We have had a very intense time to meet the requirements of financial fair play but until UEFA give the final ok, we can not certify the data, but we are happy with the work we’ve done. We have combined both the outgoing and the incoming needs with players of the highest level.”
