Former Inter manager Luigi ‘Gigi’ Simoni followed former president Massimo Moratti and current vice-president Javier Zanetti in commenting on the recent comparisons made between Kylian Mbappe and Ronaldo.
“They are both strikers and have the main characteristic of speed. Ronie was a lot stronger however and had more quality overall and was a complete player. Ronaldo could adapt to the needs of the team, deciding when to increase the pace too. Mbappé is more agile, lighter and perhaps faster and I think he can become a world star as he has age on his side,” Simoni, who managed Inter for the 1997/98 season explained to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The comparisons have surfaced in the media following the teen sensation starring in France’s 4-2 last 16 fixture against Argentina at the World Cup in which he scored twice. Mbappe broke out on to the scene as a 16-year-old at Monaco back in the 2015/16 season and he has since been involved in a €160 million transfer to PSG.
